My name is Chris-Ann Nunes, an Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce Agriculture and Fisheries. I've always been interested in and love computers &"techie" gadgets. My current job description doesn't require me going too deep into web development but my aim is to one day transfer to the ICT department  where these skills that I hope to garner will be a necessity to help not just to maintain the Ministry's website but to branch out on my own and create some wonderful, game changing websites.

Re: Welcome and Introductions

Post by Shawn Wright on Fri Sep 16, 2016 8:07 pm

Who is Shawn Wright? For decades that question has been asking, but the complexity to the answer is beyond the normal human comprehension. The simplest way to answer is to say that he's just another human being that's destined to be great. I'm currently an educator who has never seen himself impacting the minds of today's teen but has reach to the realization that this is the journey I had to take in life. Teaching has become a passion for me, but my first and true love is the electronics. It was through electronics I have been introduced to computing. The whole idea of writing some lines of code to control some mechanical instrument with electrical signals is fascinating. So, my fascination as led me to want to learn and manipulate the languages used in coding.
This course I know will be an asset with the help of my personal development to be a developer. With the techniques that will be learned in Applied Web, I know it will improve my creativity in the educational system and at a personal level. I will be able to articulate my ideas at the workplace to make work load less and be more efficient.

My name is Ricardo McDonald. I previously worked as a level 3 Network engineer and a local support for Bloomberg International. I did technical support for Skynet360 located in Miami Florida, responsible for EFax, Internet support and telephone support etc. I am now working at Seprod Limited as a MIS Specialist responsible for all Network related and security issue at all Seprod's subsidiaries such as; Caribbean product, Musson International Dairies Limited(Nestle), Golden Grove Sugar company, International Biscuit Company, Industrial sales Limited, Jamaican Grains and Cereal, Serge island Dairy and Dairies Forms.

Even though I am more of a networking person first I don’t want to be think of as a person who is operating within a vacuum, I want to be flexible; meaning, the more skills I have is the more marketable I am. So this course indirectly will give me more power at work over others and will help me to move the company forward and be more effective in what I am doing.

Post by Daniel507 on Mon Sep 19, 2016 7:20 pm

Good day everyone my name is Daniel Dixon I am not currently working in the IT industry. However, I am equipping myself by pursuing a  degree in Information Communication Technology. We are living in world that is ever evolving and with the aid of technology we are able to do thing a bit easier and faster. This is call the internet of things, where everything is technology or IP base and this is what I want to be apart of, whether to create a website, write a program or to become a networking engineer. So how will the course benefit me in the future. Every company needs a website not only to advertise their business and product but to run some kind of application on their website, whether its a data base to keep track of customers and goods or allowing customers to be able to login so that they can do some sought of action on the website. So in learning Applied Web this can give me an advantage of getting into the industry and making a deference in the workplace or as a self employed person. I know it won't be easy but I am up for the challenge .

Who is Anthony Lawrence really?

Post by Anthony Lawrence on Tue Sep 20, 2016 7:00 am

Hello everyone, I am Anthony Lawrence. I am a truly simple person so there is not much to say, but my aim in life is to escape the "rat race" and become an investor and owner of businesses (not falling for the MLM traps though). Since $career = $profession = "job"; this course doesn't help me with my career pursuits; but my pursuit of financial well being. I will be well on the way when I start providing "jobs" for other persons. In the present economy, persons are looking for different ways to make money, whether to make themselves rich or just to make ends meet (or in my case: to make the world a better place + financial independence). These persons turn to farming, retailing etc etc but since this the Information Age and IT will be relevant for the foreseeable future, I turned to IT to achieve my aims. Hence, this course is truly relevant.
